Deathtura is a Belgian heavy/thrash metal band from the Walloon Brabant. I’ve had the chance to meet the band members in their rehearsal room for a short interview.

Initially, the band was called Blackstorm and was made up of the present bassist and guitarist.

Then the former singer and drummer arrived, and the band chose the name "Deathtura".

After that, the original singer left, 2 other people arrived: a singer (Bastian) and a solo guitarist (Jérémy).

Their influences are varied, but most of the time they enjoy wellknown bands such as Trivium, Pantera, Machine Head and Slipknot.

Great live performance

I’ve also had the chance to see the band in concert the 5 of October at Belvedere in Namur.

Deathtura has already played more than 30 concerts. The first time I saw them goes back to 2014. They've evolved a lot since then.

The show Deathtura proposes was complete, nothing was left to chance while leaving a large

place to the revival. I did not notice a rhythmic error and the part of the battery is very varied. Themix between growl (scream) and clear singing is an original formula.

They produce a very accessible but still technical kind of music. Their first album “Division” will be released very soon.

Interview excerpts When I came to see you live, I noticed that Bastian had a lot of charisma, but I didn't really feel like there was a "leader". Your attitude is very fraternal! Do you consider yourself as the frontmanof Deathtura?

Bastian: In fact, it is very difficult to be leader and human. I have to compromise between fetching people and staying in cohesion.

Your single "Escape The Time" tells the story of a guy who’s freaking out under the pressure of his life that no longer suits him. Why did you choose this theme?

Bastian: Because this feeling of evil is touching a lot ofpeople. It was logical, natural to us.

Do you already have project ideas after "Division"?

Jack: We are already considering the composition of a second album.

If you were to describe the style of Deathtura, what would you say? Do you fit into a box or do you produce a synthesis of your influences?

Jack: A synthesis of influences. Jack: We're trying to produce a mixture that looks like us, a kind of 360° turn of metal that brews full of influences.
