What could be the link between a “mainstream” artist like Konoba and Cartchy magazine? Culture, definitely. And that’s precisely why I’ve decided to go and see the BPM’s press conference about the new Konoba’s album release.
I asked to all the group if they don’t think that promoting urban artist may go against current trends because, earlier that week, I saw that according to TuneCore, an independent society who offers opportunity to musicians to spread their music through the web platforms, heavy metal music is the music style that develops the most nowadays. The press manager answered that they believe there’s space for all music styles.
A little bit later, I asked to the agency if, in this time of ecology strikes, they plan public transportation to get to the Botanique, where Konoba will present their album?
“Yes, I think it’s a good idea. Bus or car », the PR manager answered, which according to me revealed that the agency didn’t considered this option at all before I was asking. For me, it's a problem because ecology is a really important thing to consider nowadays. « Ecology is really important for BPM agency », finally added the Press Manager.
The artistic agent made a long and boring list of where the band played and will play in Belgium. So I asked if Konoba will play abroad too. Her answer was short and crystal clear: “Yes, they will”.
I found the conference messy. It was lacking structure. For example, I asked myself why the PR Manager answered on such an ecological and practical question? The tone was also often familiar, which was inappropriate for the situation. The support of their presentation was too simple and short, almost incomplete, and the beginning’s video never worked. Furthermore, I would have liked more developed answers.
