Hearing “street art”, you may think about all those savage graffiti seen on trains, walls, … But street art is popping up around us, in many ways. And it is way more qualitative then than you might imagine. The key-word here is “art”! Some people made their art with graffiti.

In Louvain-la-Neuve, there are already many works around all the city. Fabrik’ART wants to highlight these arts, wants to give “a new atmosphere for the city and wants to cheer other dull places like the Halles Universitaires, the ILV, the Blocry pool, the building Leclercq and so on...”

But what’s Fabrik’ART? This is a contest organized by the Louvain-la-Neuve’s Tourist Office, in collaboration with Point culture, UCL Culture and some others Kots-à-projet. For all interested, registrations will take place from May 2, to June 15. Then, the 5 selected projects will have all the summer to realize their work and the winner will be announced in September.

Who will be able to vote? Anyone wandering in Louvain-la-Neuve will be able to participate via a paper vote throughout the summer. An ballot box will be placed.

The competition is taking place for the first time, but the organizers hope to repeat the experience in the years to come. In the case of a second edition, they are considering a partnership with SNCB to promote the journey by train for the public wishing to come and see the work of street artists in order to answer and raise awareness of climbing climatic consciousness.
